The name of the firm is actually very obviously to anybody who can speak Japanese, but I realize that this isn't the case for the vast majority of people in my target audience. My last name "Kurokawa" literally means "black river" in Japanese.
This isn't to say that a Japanese person thinks of a black river when they say my name. It's analogous to how an English speaker doesn't think of somebody crafting jewelry when they meet somebody named Goldsmith.
I love two things about the name of the firm - the elegant simplicity of it being a direct translation, and the allegory to the firm's purpose: investing in cash flowing real estate in order to provide passive income streams (rivers of black!) for our investors.
